What is USS Emmons?
The USS EMMONS is a 106-meter-long U.S. Navy ship sunk at a depth of about 40 meters, about 20 minutes by boat off the coast of Kouri Island. The official name "United States Ship EMMONS" is abbreviated as "USS EMMONS.
In April 1945, during World War II, the ship was attacked and wrecked by a Kamikaze Kamikaze Suicide Attack Squadron of the Japanese Army. After rescuing all surviving crew members, the ship was sunk by the U.S. military itself to prevent any secret leakage.
Today, the hull of the ship remains beautifully in its original form, and the huge main guns, machine guns, and screws are still lying on the seabed in the same state as they were in those days.
How to play in USS Emmons
Although the USS Emmons is a place where remnants of war remain, it is also the No. 1 wreck site on the main island of Okinawa as a place where diving can be done.
Now that the war is over, the sight of the battleship lying quietly at the bottom of the sea is sure to be most moving when seen with the naked eye!
The depth will be around 40 meters, which is considerably deeper than usual diving.
Therefore, special licensees (AOW or higher) or intermediate/advanced divers (approx. 50 experienced divers) are eligible for this program.
Early reservations are recommended as they fill up quickly.
