塩川（スガー）

本島北部の本部町ある塩川は、国の天然記念物に指定された川で全長は約300m。

湧き水が塩水という大変珍しい川で、世界でもプエルトリコと塩川の2ヶ所しかない貴重な川です。川の湧き水を味見してみると確かにしょっぱいけど、海水よりはしょっぱくはありません。

塩水が湧き出している塩川源泉は全部で3か所あり、その水は下流にある塩川ビーチへと注がれています。

塩川ビーチは地元民に愛される天然のビーチです。ここは特に観光地化されているわけではないので、自然のままの姿を楽しむことができ、林もあるので、ここでキャンプをする人も多いです。

近くの本部港から船を出して、塩川一文字と呼ばれるスポットで釣りを楽しむ人も多いので釣り好きの方は要チェックなポイントです。
