What is Fukugi Namiki?
Located in Motobu-cho, northern Okinawa Prefecture, the Bise district is a hamlet of about 250 houses, most of which are surrounded by a thick forest of fukugi trees.
The landscape seen throughout this village is unique to Okinawa, where typhoons are common. Fukugi has long been used as a windbreak in Okinawa, and was planted in large numbers, especially around the houses of villages located near the sea.
How to play at Fukugi Namiki
You can take pictures with the Fukugi trees in the background or stroll through the old-fashioned Bise area and go out to the sea since the sea is also right in front of you. Recently, the number of cafes and restaurants has increased, making it a popular spot for everything from dining to playing.
Also, be sure to check out the buffalo carts that are available to explore the area.
Early reservations are recommended as they fill up quickly.
