Located in Uruma City in the central part of the main island, Ikei Island is an inhabited outlying island accessible by car—you cross the Underwater Road, pass through Henza Island and Miyagi Island, and it’s the island at the very end.

There are quite a few houses and a relatively large population, with about 300 people living there. The island is peaceful, with sugarcane fields stretching as far as the eye can see, and while there isn’t much to speak of, that’s precisely what makes Ikejima, one of Okinawa’s outlying islands, so charming.
