What is Yachimun-no-sato?

Yachimun" is an Okinawan dialect word for "pottery," and the most distinctive feature of "Yachimun" is its vividly painted and dynamic patterns.

The colors used include cobalt blue, reminiscent of the blue ocean of Okinawa, green (augusuya), reminiscent of palm trees and tropical plants, and brown (ame), which is often used as a counterpart to these colors.

How to play at Yachimun-no-sato

Yachimun-no-sato is an area where 19 workshops of Yachimun craftsmen are "independently" operating.

Each studio has its own opening hours, closing days, and the content of each piece differs, but why not take a look at each unique piece and experience Okinawan culture while looking for a Yachimun as a souvenir of your trip to Okinawa?
