Encounter with creatures only at night

At night, the Hijagawa River is shrouded in silence and darkness. Birds and animals that are active during the daytime hide, and nocturnal creatures quietly emerge.

Once your eyes become accustomed to the moonlight, slowly head deeper into the mangrove forest. Depending on the time of year, you may see beautiful scenes of fireflies flitting about or Okinawan nocturnal creatures such as flying foxes!

Parking is available. Parking spaces are available at the store where we will meet.

It will take about 2 hours to get to Naha Airport from Hishagawa (meeting place) where the kayak tour is held, and to return the rental car.

Hat, drink (plastic bottle is recommended), change of clothes, towel, bug spray, rain or cold weather gear depending on season and weather. Please wear clothes that are easy to move in and can get wet.

Bottom line, it was great! I was a bit apprehensive in the beginning of the tour because of the pitch black surroundings, but the guides helped me to feel comfortable and comfortable with the progress of the tour. I was especially impressed by the knowledge and passion of the tour guides. Their explanations about the mangroves were very interesting, and I could tell that they were full of love for nature. Also, seeing fireflies and flying foxes, which we cannot see on the mainland, was a memory that will last a lifetime.

I joined the tour on the day I arrived in Okinawa! I couldn't get over how adventurous it was to go down the Hiyagawa River at night with the lights on. The moonlight on the surface of the river and the silence of the mangrove forest was like being in another world. The starry sky and the creatures we saw from the kayak were fantastic.
