万座毛とは
沖縄本島北部の恩納村にある万座毛は、琉球石灰岩からなる海岸の断崖と広大な芝生からできており、18世紀前半に琉球国王の尚敬王が「万人を座するに足る」と賞賛したことから万座毛と名付けられたと伝えられています。
毛は沖縄の方言で「葉っぱ」や「草原」のことを言います。
万座毛での遊び方
万座毛の一番といわれているフォトスポットとして象の鼻に見える岩があります。
浸食されて自然にできた形なので自然の偉大さを感じられ、晴れた日には海も色鮮やかに輝き、夕暮れ時は夕日がとてもきれいに見えるのでインスタ映えにも間違いなしの外せないスポットとなります。
また、2020年10月2日に万座毛に新施設がオープンし、フードコートや休憩所、お土産屋さんなどがあり、定番の沖縄土産から沖縄伝統工芸の琉球グラスや恩納村の酒造所で作られたお酒などを購入することもできるので万座毛を見た後も楽しめる施設となっています。
