On December 2, 2000, nine historic sites in Okinawa were registered as World Heritage sites under the official name of "Gusuku and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu.

Three of the nine registered sites (Katsuren Castle Ruins, Nakagusuku Castle Ruins, and Zakimi Castle Ruins) are located here, in central Japan. Those interested in the Kingdom of Ryukyu should check them out!

First, we enjoyed diving in the Blue Grotto, surrounded by its mystical blue light, and then we observed the awe-inspiring whale sharks up close. I was very satisfied with the attentive guidance provided in a small group setting, but it was a bit chilly during the boat ride, so it would have been perfect if I’d had something to wear over my clothes.

It was the kids’ first time kayaking, but the guide taught them so patiently that they were able to enjoy it without any worries. They were thrilled to spot crabs and gobies among the mangroves along the Hija River—their eyes lit up with excitement—and we made some wonderful family memories.
